Oscars 2026 — Complete Winners List From the 98th Academy Awards

Oscars 2026 winners list 98th Academy Awards Best Picture One Battle After Another

Hollywood's biggest night is officially in the books. The 98th Academy Awards took place on March 16, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles — and two films dominated the entire evening.

Here is the complete winners list from Oscars 2026.

One Battle After Another — The Big Winner With 6 Oscars

One Battle After Another was named Best Picture at the 98th Oscars, taking home six awards total.

Paul Thomas Anderson won both Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, marking his first-ever wins in either category.  He had been nominated multiple times throughout his career for films including There Will Be Blood and Phantom Thread, making this a long-awaited career peak.

Sean Penn, who was not present at the ceremony, won Best Supporting Actor for the film, setting a record with his win.  The film also picked up Best Film Editing for Andy Jurgensen. In a notable industry first, Oscars 2026 added a new category — Best Casting — the first new category since Best Animated Feature was introduced in 2002. Cassandra Kulukundis won that inaugural award for One Battle After Another.

One Battle After Another stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a former revolutionary.

Sinners — 4 Oscars Including Best Actor

Ryan Coogler's Sinners entered the night as the most nominated film with a record 16 nominations and left with four awards.

Michael B. Jordan was named Best Actor for his performance in Sinners, while Ryan Coogler won Best Original Screenplay.  The film also took home Best Original Score for Ludwig Goransson and Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw. Arkapaw became the first woman ever to win the Best Cinematography Oscar.

Frankenstein — 3 Oscars

Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein had a strong night with three Academy Awards, though specific categories were not announced during the broadcast.

The Acting Winners in Full

Best Actress went to Jessie Buckley for her performance in Hamnet, while Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.

The acting lineup this year featured some of the biggest names in the industry. Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, and Ethan Hawke were all nominated for Best Actor but went home without the award as Michael B. Jordan took the prize.

Animated Feature and Original Song

KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature Film, and its song "Golden" also took home the Oscar for Best Original Song.

The Night's Biggest Moments

The ceremony featured live performances of two nominated songs. A Bridesmaids reunion brought together Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, and Ellie Kemper on stage. Past winners Mikey Madison, Adrien Brody, Kieran Culkin, and Zoe Saldaña returned as presenters, continuing the tradition of last year's acting winners introducing this year's categories.

Sean Penn's absence from the ceremony drew attention given his record-setting win. Paul Thomas Anderson's double win ended one of the longest Oscar droughts for a filmmaker of his stature.

Autumn Durald Arkapaw's historic win for Best Cinematography — the first woman ever to receive that award — was widely considered one of the most significant moments of the night.

The 98th Academy Awards wrapped on time, with the Academy crediting its decision to limit live musical performances to just two songs as a key factor in keeping the show moving smoothly.
